The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) Vanpool Program provides eligible groups of three or more commuters with a van to use to commute to and from work. The month-to-month lease includes the vehicle, insurance, maintenance, gas, and an Emergency Ride Home.

Traditional vanpooling consists of seven to fifteen passengers who lease a van on a month-to-month basis through PART’s Vanpooling Program. Volunteer drivers pick up others at specific points, drop them off at common sites, and return them to their pickup points at the end of each day.
PART’s Vanpool Program is the perfect solution for commuters interested in:

One of the greatest advantages to Vanpooling, is all of the money that you will save on your commute to work.
Driving alone to work, you are spending approximately $199.50* a month. And do not forget to add in your vehicle wear and tear, maintenance, insurance, and parking!

7-passenger van~ $125.92*
15-passenger van ~ $64.26*
*Drive alone costs are based on 60 daily round-trip miles, 21 days a month, 23.6 average miles per gallon, at $2.33 per gallon. 7 passenger van assumes 6 passengers. 15 passenger vanpool rate assumes 13 participants. Prices provided are an estimate.*
If you need to travel somewhere beyond the Wake Forest shuttle routes, there are five Zipcars on the Reynolda campus and one at Wake Downtown. Zipcars can be rented by the hour or by the day. Plus, gas & insurance is included. All you need to do is register for Zipcar at Wake Forest.
You can utilize SharetheRideNC to connect with others in your area with the same commute. ShareTheRideNC is a statewide ride-matching service sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART).
For the “Just Try It” campaign, PART will organize the logistics. All you need to do is complete a brief survey so PART can determine an appropriate day, time, and central location to meet.
Before a vanpool starts, the group is required to provide PART with a $300 deposit. Assuming the van is returned in the same condition it is provided, the deposit will be returned to the vanpool group in about 10 business days. The vanpool fare is determined by the number of round trip daily miles the van travels. The fare is then split evenly by the number of participants in the van. The vanpool fare is all-inclusive. It includes the vehicle, gas, insurance, maintenance, and a FREE emergency ride home (ERH).
