We are excited to have you on campus! Wake Forest is a compact, walkable, and bikeable campus with a robust shuttle system and car-sharing service. Here is WFU Transportation and Parking Services’ comprehensive guide to getting around campus and Winston-Salem.

The Wake Line

The Wake Line shuttle system, with service to Wake Downtown, shopping, and off-campus housing is the easiest way to get from the heart of campus to popular areas in Winston-Salem. Airport shuttles are also available during seasonal breaks, making it easy for you to travel without a car. Download the Passio GO app now to be able to track shuttles in real-time.

Walking

Wake’s small, compact campus is perfect for walking. Most academic buildings and dining locations are less than a 5-minute walk from the first-year residence halls, while the first-year parking lot is about 15 minutes away.

Biking

Bike registration is free and bike racks are plentiful around campus. Don’t have a bike? The ReCycle Bike Share program offers a limited number of semester-long loaners.

Zipcar

Zipcars are located near the first-year residences and are available 24/7 to all students 18+. Rates include gas, secondary insurance, and roadside assistance. Discounted memberships are available for Wake students.

Ride the Triad

It’s no secret that commuting costs can add up quickly – but there’s a better way to get around the Triad! PART and its PARTner agencies offer trips at an affordable price, making public transportation an excellent choice for accessing your desired destination. Check out RideTheTriad.org for valuable route and schedule information.

Parking

Given the walkability of campus and our robust shuttle system, the vast majority of students choose not to bring a car to campus. Please note that any student who wishes to park a vehicle on campus at any time of day or night must register that vehicle with Transportation and Parking Services. To register your vehicle, visit the WFU Parking Portal. If you choose to register a vehicle, a map identifying your student parking location can be found on the Student Parking webpage.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to access the parking portal, you must specifically select your WFU Google account to login. Otherwise, you will not be able to access the portal. All other Google users must be logged completely out.
